🔥 What is a Fire Extinguisher?


Fire Extinguisher is a safety device that is used to extinguish fire immediately. It is filled with chemicals or gas under pressure, which extinguish the fire when sprayed on it.

🔥 Types of Fire Extinguishers


1. Water Type


Use: Fires like wood, paper, cloth (Class A fire).


Do not use: on electrical and oil/petrol fires.

2. Foam Type


Use: Fires like oil, petrol, paint (Class B fire).


Limited use: Also on wood-paper.


Do not use: on electrical fires.

3. CO₂ (Carbon Dioxide) Extinguisher


Use: Electrical fire and petrol-diesel (Class B & C fire).


Safe for computers, machines.

 4. Dry Powder Type


Use: Almost all types of fires (Multi-purpose).


Especially useful on electrical and flammable gas fires.

5. Clean Agent Extinguisher


Use: Server rooms, labs, expensive machines.

Red → Water Type


Cream/Yellow → Foam


Black → CO₂


Blue → Dry Powder


Green → Clean Agent


🔥 Use of Fire Extinguisher (Method of use)


👉 Easy way to remember this is PASS Rule:


P – Pull : Remove the Pin


A – Aim : Aim at the base of the fire


S – Squeeze : Press the Handle


S – Sweep : Spray at the base of the fire by moving left and right

Prevents the fire from spreading.


Protects life and property.


Uses as first aid in emergency.
